Price Changes, Shipping Schedule Updates

Price Changes

Over the past 10+ years of making the Strum Fix I’ve managed to only to raise prices a couple times, mostly because of increases in our shipping costs. When I first started, it costs us less than $1 to ship a Strum Fix in the U.S., now it is about $5 but I’ve mostly been able to offset the increased shipping costs by buying parts in larger quantities and adopting new technologies like 3D printing.

Unfortunately the costs of parts (switches and PCBs) have also increased and I’m no longer able to cut costs elsewhere to compensate, so starting June 1 the prices of most products will increase slightly. I’m trying to keep the increases to about 10% or less, and not all products will be affected. As a new product the Fret Fix already had the increased parts costs factored into its price, so its price won’t be changing.

Shipping Schedule Update

For the last couple months I moved to a weekly shipping schedule where we ship all orders on Tuesdays. This was done primarily to make it sustainable for us (we are basically a 2-person, part-time operation), as the previous twice-weekly shipping left us with no time to work on new designs or do customer support.

I am working towards streamlining more of the manufacturing so that we can ship faster, but will only do that if we can achieve it without sacrificing quality. I’m optimistic we can get there, but if I’m realistic it’s still a few months away.
